We were really pleased to stay at the Thirsty Scholar as it was a lovely with history and not far from where we were going for a party . Adele was very welcoming as were the other staff. It was lovely and warm in the bedroom and nice light duvet and nice and clean and the room had all the basics that you need for a stay. Shower lovely and hot. Lovely. You could see every effort had been made to try and make it nice for guests. Breakfast was amazing - all fresh local food, could taste the difference and it was much appreciated. Nice not to be served the cheapest of ingredients - a first for us.

The selling points of this property were its location, the room rate and the interesting supper menu. On arrival we were greeted in a very friendly manner and taken straight to our rooms, which were delightful. We had a delicious supper, a restful night and an equally delicious breakfast. The owners and their staff could not have been more helpful. The hard work put into this property since the owners bought it three years ago is evident; it continues, to maintain such high standards. Excellent!

Excellent choice on breakfast menu, but portions were massive. Great choice on evening menu and great food too. The rump steak was excellent and extremely good value for money. Loved the lamb lasagne too ! Lovely compact room, and the bed was extremely comfortable ❤️ Parking bit of a nightmare, but to be expected in a quaint Cornish town. Car parks were 5 mins walk away, with plenty of spaces. Staff, especially Adele extremely kind and helpful.

I must appreciate the hostess who looked after my daughter who was having problems with her university accommodation and had to shift out at short notice. They made her feel at home and she even dropped her to uni once as she missed her bus. It was a great help to my daughter who was living away from home and country for the first time. I'm very grateful

A warm welcome on arrival and swiftly escorted to a nearby car park to leave my car over night. Room was cosy and nicely furnished. Beautiful view of the estuary and the pub's garden. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely with a great shower. I ate the full English breakfast with a pot of tea and enjoyed every mouthful.
